Jim Klein, Director of Tennis/Head Pro

The JIM KLEIN TENNIS COLLEGE was established at Doylestown Tennis Club in 1995.  Jim is a Top Rated Certified USPTA Pro with a degree in Science of Tennis Instruction from Tyler Junior College, the first accredited tennis college in the nation.   Jim studied under Steve Smith and Vic Braden, internationally-known tennis experts, educators, and personalities, and eventually became a guest instructor for the Vic Braden Tennis College on the East and West coasts.  Prior to coming to Pennsylvania in 1990, Jim taught at Florida’s prestigious Colony Beach Resort.  In 1991 Jim was honored as Pennsylvania’s “Tennis Coach of the Year”.   When Jim came to Doylestown in 1995, he standardized our teaching, training all pros/coaches to teach by the laws of physics. Thus, a student can take a lesson with any DTC pro and will receive the same quality instruction.

Ryan Reidy, Assistant Head Pro

A Top Rated Certified USPTA Pro, Ryan has been on the staff of The Jim Klein Tennis College at Doylestown for over 13 years.  In 2005 Ryan was named Assistant Head Pro.   As a protégé of Jim since age 5, Ryan had earned nine championship trophies by the time he was 12.  Ryan’s strokes combined with his mental toughness have served him well.  During his career as a player, he has played in 22 finals and won 21 of them- quite an accomplishment.  His teaching ability and knowledge of the game earned him a spot as a featured guest instructor at the Vic Braden Tennis Center, St. George, Utah.

     Cory Smith, Senior Staff Professional

Cory graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Education from Bloomsburg University.  As a top tennis player and avid skier and snowboarder, Cory eventually decided to make tennis his profession and he has his USPTA Professional Certification. 
He trained as a player under Jim Klein for 15 years and has been an
essential part of our teaching staff since September of 1999. 

Mary Lou Cardie, Senior Staff Professional

Mary Lou is a graduate of Arcadia University with a Masters in Education, and has a B.S. in Computer Science from Villanova University.  She joined our staff in September of 1998 and is a  Top Rated Certified USPTA Pro.  In addition to coaching and teaching, Mary Lou enjoys competing on our 4.5 USTA Women’s Team.

Support Staff

To complement our Senior Teaching Staff, we have 12 Assistant Coaches, all trained in teaching according to the laws of physics.  These coaches assist in teaching our Junior Programs and Camps throughout the year.
